[LYRICS]
We used to drive so fast
With the radio on
Rush into the dark
Through the dusk and dawn
We used to run away
Underneath the stars
It was a teenage dream
Driving in your arms
Crying at the radio, whoa
Playing songs we used to know
And I remember
Tonight, I’m driving home alone
Crying at the radio
Remember when you held me, oh
Crying at the radio
Forever seems so long ago
I’m crying at the radio
Yeah I’m trying
And I’m trying
But tonight I gotta let you go
We used to get so lost
In those summer nights
We were born to run
We were burning fire
Crying at the radio, whoa
Playing songs we used to know
And I remember
Tonight, I’m driving home alone
Crying at the radio
Remember when you held me, oh
Crying at the radio
Forever seems so long ago
I’m crying at the radio
Yeah I’m trying
And I’m trying
But tonight I gotta let you go
Baby
Oh yeah
Whoa
Tonight, I’m driving home alone
Crying at the radio
Remember when you held me, oh
Crying at the radio
Forever seems so long ago
I’m crying at the radio
Yeah I’m trying
And I’m trying
Whoa
Crying at the radio
But tonight I gotta let you go
Michaela May is a Scottish singer, songwriter and actress based in Toronto, Canada. Having spent a few years away from music, Michaela is back with her first single 'Crying At The Radio '' from her forthcoming EP.
Michaela's previous releases have been featured and championed frequently by many pop tastemakers such as Popjustice, Breathe Heavy, Popdust and Ultimate Music. '1954,' 'Lights Out,' and 'You & I' were supported by radio in Canada and Australia and featured in the Netflix hit show, 'Kim's Convenience.
'Crying At The Radio' is a track that reminisces about long-lost, endless summer nights with the love of your life. It's inspired by Roy Orbison's 'I Drove All Night' mixed with new Retrowave classics from The Weeknd and Dua Lipa. The track is a result of a collaboration between Michaela May and Jonny Spalding (The Lightening Kids) who met in London in 2014. Co-produced by Fox Revett and Spalding.
Michaela's songwriting skills have been recognized by some of the best of the business as she has written with Grammy and Oscar winning producer James Napier (Sam Smith - Stay With Me, I'm Not The Only One), Heather Holley (Christina Aguilera), Simon Ellis (Britney Spears, Spice Girls, S Club 7), Silverland (Sting) and Will Simms (Little Mix and The Pussycat Dolls) to name just a few.
Michaela's forthcoming EP will be out in Spring 2023, followed by a small North American and European tour of select cities this coming summer.

This is a great compilation! However, what's with the hyper-politicized track 5 and its “extremist” lyrics??—totally out of place (hypocritical for a traditional Christmas context) and that'll be dropped from my playlist. exsurgo
